Southern Americana, Louisiana Book Festival & Tricia Goyer, all tomorrow on ATS LIVE!

How about a piece of Southern Americana? This is Mammy’s Resturant. She stands south of Natchez, MS on Highway 61, and yes, she’s open. I snapped her picture on the way home from the Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge, LA. What an icon, that Mammy. I remember the first time I heard my own Mother say that Mammy had been a popular hangout for her high school friends. It was hard picturing Mama as a young girl, chatting with friends and snacking on french fries inside Mammy’s petticoat but I liked the idea, even if the visual was hazy.  Today Mammy continues to invite travelers in for some simple southern fare though it has been said by a travel writer that “you have to check your political correctness at the door.” If only her walls could talk…

I met a ton of new freaders (friend/reader) at the Book Fest. Here are a few of the kind folks who came to my presentation. At least those who agreed to lag behind for a pic! God love ’em, I dare say that my rambling style made for one of the more unusual author presentations they attended, but we had a good time, huh folks?!

I have so much to process from the festival, not to mention the week that preceded it that had me making two speaking engagements in one day in two different cities– one that included a cooking show by yours truly. Oh, yes, strange happenings, unique people, good times/bad times, whatever-am-I-doing times, but as with all my stories, they’re sure to trickle out over time.  Right now I’ve got an invitation on my mind. If your Monday evening allows, please join me on air tomorrow from 5:00 to 6:00 for ATS LIVE. My talk show airs locally on KMLB TALK 540 and streams live thru my website.

The fantabulous Tricia Goyer will be my guest tomorrow. It will be a return trip to ATS for this much-loved and widely read author and I’m looking forward to it. We’ll be discussing Remembering You, a fantastic read that you need to put on your must read list!

As with all of Tricia’s books, I devoured this one in a single bite.  It’s a little bit history lesson, a little bit love story, and a whole lot of insight into human nature. Tricia has a God-given talent that we’re blessed to share.

See y’all on the air!

Hugs,
Shellie

In this latest novel Tricia gives us a unique glimpse into the lives of those who lived through World War II. Do you have a living relative with such a story? If so, I encourage you to listen to whatever memories they want to share.
