It’s NOT too late to run!

My man and I enjoy watching those Ninja Warrior competitions. That’s the show where athletes compete on an obstacle course that challenges both their muscles and their guts. As of this date, neither Phil nor I have been so moved as to begin our own ninja training, but I suppose it could happen. The show has inspired many people to get in shape and compete for the prize.

We saw one such competitor a couple weeks ago, and the memory of his run is still with me. Mr. John Loobey calls himself the Geriatric Ninja. The Tennessee native is 64, which gets younger the older I get, but in his pre-race interview, he claimed to have bunions older than many of the other contestants and yet, there he was. The show had moved him from the porch to his back yard where he built and trained on obstacles simulating those of the famous course, and he was now ready for prime time. While Mr. Loobey failed to make it to the end and hit the buzzer, he is the oldest person to complete an obstacle to date and he may forever hold the title as the only person to ever lose his teeth during competition. Yes, he did. And he was a good sport about it, too. He just dove back under water and recovered them, to the delight of the audience. Kudos Mister Loobey.

Setting aside the amazing run of the Geriatric Ninja, it’s safe to say that there is a point at which training for Ninja Warrior is no longer an option. But, here’s the good news, folks. In the race that matters– somebody get ready to shout hallelujah — the one where Christ Jesus is the prize, it is not too late. If you are breathing in and breathing out, it is not too late for you to get out of the stands, and get in your own lane and run. You’ll find plenty of company, tons of other runners, training with you, not against you. Come friend. Today is the day! Let’s seek this Jesus together, forever.

Hugs, Shellie
