From the All Things Southern Mail Bag…

Hey folks! If you want to hum a few bars of “Wait a Minute, Mr. Postman”, that’d be cool. We’re foregoing our Southern Quote today to open the mailbag. I have the cutest email to share with y’all. It comes from Tiffani Chavez in Moriarty, NM! Tiffani writes:

Dear Shellie, I’ve almost finished reading your book. Where have you been all of my life? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! I’m going to read it again and highlight all of those things I need to start teaching my children and doing myself, which brings me to my question. I really wanted to ask you if you would be my “Southern Mama” but my husband told me I couldn’t because it would hurt my mom’s feelings – and he’s probably right. So since I can’t have two mamas, I was wondering, could you and your family and friends come up with a text-book or internet class that’s followed by a test where we can get a certificate saying we are Belles? I know the ones who need to take this class are probably not from the south so we couldn’t actually be called Southern Belles, but I’d be happy with just the Belle title.

I don’t care what people say, the way you all were raised is the right way and that’s a FACT! I am determined to find out more on how to behave like a Belle and teach my daughter the same behavior. Please oh please make this happen soon!

Dear Tiffani, Thank you! Your enthusiasm for my work blesses me, as does your being tempted to ask me to be your Southern Mama. I also found it priceless that your man pulled you back a bit. Mine is notorious for doing that with me and it’s always a good thing.

As for the rest of you fine folks listening, looks like we need to create such a course for the precious wanna-be belles out there. Tiffani isn’t the first to ask. How about it? Send me your “How to Behave Like a Belle” tips. I’ll report in as we go.  This is Shellie, with hugs for all!
