Extra! Extra! Read All About It

Hey y’all! I’ve got a ton of things to talk to y’all about. So much so, that I’m about to burst. My newest “baby”, my storytelling cookbook, Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce, published by Barbour Publishing, hits shelves in tomorrow morning, Saturday, Oct. 1st! At this point, I feel a whole lot like my man when the crops are maturing and he is anxious to put a combine in the field. It’s time to do this thing! frontfinalHungry

Actually, the first waves of this launch began more than a month ago when I put together the most awesome launch team in the history of launch teams. Working with a launch team was a first for me, and boy oh boy, was I in for a surprise! The readers I chose were hands down amazing. They have done everything they can and more to get the word out about this storytelling cookbook and I’m forever indebted to them!

The second wave of early promotion came a couple weekends ago now at the SIBA convention in Savannah, GA. SIBA stands for Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance and it’s one of my favorite events. It brings book store owners and authors together for something like a cross between a working weekend and a love fest. I was humbled at the early reception Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce received! Not only is she an Okra pic for Fall 2017, but Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce was also chosen as one of fifteen books to take part in the Trio exhibition.  Oh, let me tell you about Trio…

The literary force known as Shari Smith is the visionary behind Trio and as her website proclaims, “It begins with a book.” But, here, why don’t I just grab more of Shari’s words and let her explain?

Shari says, “One book is given to both a songwriter and a visual artist. They write a song and create a work of art inspired by the book they read fulfilling their Trio. Each Trio will be installed as part of an exhibit debuting at the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance in September of 2015 and traveling to museums, galleries, and literary events throughout the following year. You can read more about Trio and look into having the exhibition come to your city here.

The singer/songwriter paired with Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce could not have been a more perfect fit, y’all. His name is Timothy Scott and he’s from North Carolina. Tim and his beautiful wife Sarah wrote the lyrics to Mama’s Table, and it literally feels like the musical version of my storytelling timothysarah cookbook, down to my favorite line, “Mama fills up our plates, Papa’s saying grace…” Hearing Tim perform Mama’s Table while accompanying himself on his acoustic guitar was a moment I will always remember. Did I cry? Oh, you better believe it. I did me some ugly crying!  You can hear Mama’s Table at the close of this post.

Let’s see, I’m sure there’s more, but I’m writing to you from my daughter’s house in Houston, where I’ve been playing with the Grand Boys of Texas all day and this “Keggie” is wiped out! I’m about to call it a day!

I hope you’ll look for Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce  on the shelves of your favorite bookstore. It should be here, there, and everywhere. And for that, I’m most thankful. Later, y’all~

Hugs,
Shellie

P.S. The snapshot of my smiling friend and I wearing name badges? That’s the rep for my book and my new friend, Bill! I bonded with he and his sweet wife, Linda, and I’m trying to talk them into coming to Louisiana and putting their feet under my table!
