Down to the Wire!

aboundingHello folks, let’s chat…As I geared up to lay down a holiday spread that would do my southern ancestors proud, I was thinking of Thanksgivings past. I remember hiding under my grandmother’s dining room table with my sister Rhonda and our cousin Lisa. Our mission was to successfully emerge from beneath the tablecloth to taste-test without getting caught as our mamas trooped back and forth to the kitchen.

Year later, I would finally realize that we weren’t near as sneaky as we liked to imagine. Clearly, those sweet women were graciously indulging our little girl game in the spirit of Thanksgiving. And it’s in that very spirit that I ask you to indulge me as I borrow this week’s porch chat to wrap up our annual gratitude drive known as “30 Days of Thankfulness”.

We’re literally in the last hours of this campaign designed to live out our gratitude in a tangible expression toward those less fortunate. I see it as a beautiful way to add authenticity to the verbal thanksgiving we’ve just offered for our individual blessings. We’re working with Life Today’s mission to drill water wells in areas around the globe without access to clean water. Sadly, the choice of far too many mothers is to allow their children to drink the disease infected water of nearby streams that carry death, or watch them perish from thirst. Here at All Things Southern, we don’t think that’s a choice at all. As I type these words, we’re at $7,679 and our goal is $9,600. We’ve raised enough to drill one well and we’re oh, so close to drilling that second one before the clock strikes midnight! Can you help?

I’m asking everyone who has a grateful heart and the means to show it, to hit the donate button and give at least ten dollars. Here’s the direct link: http://my.ambassadorsforlife.org/campaign/30Days/

Afterwards, please consider posting “$10 I’m In” on your preferred social media program to spread the word.

We may not have accomplished as much as we wanted to in the last few years, but for the child in that village who lives today because he or she has been able to drink fresh water from our well, we did it all. Let’s do it again.

I hope y’all had a lovely Thanksgiving! Remember, this Monday evening on ATS LIVE Missy Robertson from the hit television show Duck Dynasty will be with me on ATS LIVE! I hope you’ll make plans to join us.

That’s it for now. I’ll see y’all right back here next week, same time, same place—(if the Good Lord’s willing and the creek doesn’t rise!)

Hugs, Shellie
