Cranked Up Cranberry Relish

Hey y’all, and welcome back to the All Things Southern kitchen! I wanted to tell y’all about my Cranked Up Cranberry Relish. The truth is, I’m not a big fa of the cranberry molded stuff in a can. Every Thanksgiving, as long as I can remember, I’ve been passing it right on around the table when it comes to me. So, several years ago I whipped up a little something-something cranberry that was fresh and full of flavor. And it was a big hit! We enjoyed it with the turkey, the rolls, the peas– we even ate it later with chips. Seriously, I expected Food Network to call any minute for the recipe!

Cranked Up Cranberry Relish 2

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh cranberries (not molded)
3 jalapeño peppers seeded and chopped
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped white onion
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 cup lime juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt

We’ll take fresh cranberries and send ‘em thru the food processor to break them down. Afterwards, we’ll combine them with chopped bell pepper, seeded and diced jalapenos, and chopped white and green onions. We’ll season this with cilantro, lime juice, cumin, salt and sugar. Stir well and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving!

And that is is! You’re going to want to try this one, folks. It’s good eating from the All Things Southern kitchen to yours. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hugs, Shellie
