Counting Ruby, the Elderly Belle as a Blessing Tonight

This from my inbox…

Dear Shellie, I just had to tell you…your 2 sweet ladies from 1st Baptist Crowville– the one that couldn’t hear and the other that couldn’t see… Well, Marianna the deaf one, has gone on to her heavenly reward. Her buddy Ruby, the blind one, continues to amaze me. She celebrated her 90th birthday last summer and still lives alone, keeping a spotless house and yard. She has so much energy. Anyway, she was in the hospital a couple of days last week with a urinary tract infection.

When she got home I called checking on her and told her that her name was published in your latest book. She said “okay” and that was about it. Last Sunday she was at church, dressed fit to kill. When I went to get my hug, tears welled up in her eyes. She wanted to know if that was really the truth about their story being in your book. When I assured her it was, she smiled that precious smile and said “I never thought that at 90 years old, I’d be mentioned in a book!” What a great get well gift for her and a spirit lifting for me. Thank you for your books and emails etc.

Love and prayers.

Sweet readers– I wrote Mrs. Annette back and told her how much this note meant to me. You can find the story she is talking about on page 252 of “Sue Ellen’s Girl Ain’t Fat, She Just Weighs Heavy!” Somehow, I thought Ruby’s story might bless y’all, too! Have a great week and please count your many blessings, name them one by one! Happy Thanksgiving!

Feel free to leave mention of your gratitude here. I would enjoy it!
