Cajun Green Beans with Peppered Bacon

Welcome back to the All Things Southern kitchen. We’re making my Cajun Green Beans with Peppered Bacon today. You’re going to want to print this out, bookmark the page, or carve it into the dining room table, but this recipe rocks your average green beans!

“Cajun Green Beans with Peppered Bacon”

1 pound green beans, trimmed or one 32 ounce bag of frozen green beans

5-6 slices thick cut pepper bacon cut into bite size pieces

1/2 cup diced white onion

1 and ½ tablespoon Tony Chachere’s Cajun seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons white grape juice and a dash of lemon juice (or white cooking wine)

I’ve browned about 6 slices of thick cut peppered bacon in a skillet, drained it, and cut it into bite size pieces. Oh, and I saved my grease. (Who wouldn’t, right? *grin*) We’re going to sauté about a half of a diced white onion until it’s soft. Then we’ll add a 32 ounce bag of frozen green beans. (Fresh is wonderful if it’s available, but if not—skip the cans and use the frozen. More nutrients.)

We’ll season our beans with salt and pepper and Tony Chachere’s. Then we’ll add about two tablespoons of white grape juice and a dash of lemon juice. You can also use white wine in place of those juices. We’ll cover and cook just until our beans start softening and then we’ll transfer them to a pretty serving dish and top with the chopped bacon and toss it lightly to spread the bacon love. YUM! Enjoy my Cajun Green Beans with Peppered Bacon. That’s good eating from the All Things Southern kitchen to yours~
